I have pretty much just been playing a lot of Killer is Dead… holy hell that game is weird.
I am skint at the moment, so the backlog will be getting some attention soon. Question is… Where to start??? :S16/01/14 at 15:05 #209824AvengerParticipant
Well I’m beginning to find out that your advice is well met. Had a couple of bad matches, lost supplies and had a challenge dumped on which turned out to be tricky whichever one I chose. I managed to scrape through fine though. It’s partly a matter of getting in with some decent groups though. For some reason I was put in to a match of high level guys and kept getting flamedthrower’ed or bashed with improvised melee waeapons.
I’m not sure how many maps there are, but yes, I can see it getting tiring after 12 weeks. I don’t expect the season pass will be discounted any time soon, so I might snag it and have myself a bit more variety.16/01/14 at 15:23 #209832
Couldn’t agree more with Youles advice. If you take on the easy challenges early on you’re going to have a tough time later… There’s nothing worse than being on week 11 and being faced with a nigh on impossible challenge at 100% loss if you fail – *trust me*!
I really enjoyed the multiplayer but yeah, after 24 weeks solid just to earn the platinum it does get tiring! Can’t really complain about the maps as there aren’t any I can honestly say I dislike, unlike most other multiplayer games I’ve played (COD – I’m looking at you!)
Teamwork is essential to succeed. To be fair, when I was playing I found most were decent players who were in it for the same thing you are… AC4 on the other hand. Trying to play wolf pack and people are just running for the targets trying to beat everyone else to them for a measely 100pts. It’s going to take an age to get to lvl 55 like that :-(16/01/14 at 15:26 #209833
Glad I could be of help (and early on)! I know what you mean about your team, equally if you’re with good people you may struggle for Downs and if they’re stealing bastards they may rob your Executions from your Downs. That’s why it’s best to leave the crafting and gifting challenges until the end, since you don’t need to rely on your team….you can also use some different perks to assist with said challenges, meaning you can carry more items for gifting, or crafting from less salvage (making those challenges even easier).
I found the Molotov’s and Melee overpowered. Don’t get me wrong, a Molotov should burn you to death but perhaps it should be harder to craft as it’s a one-hit kill. The issue I had with melee/shiv was that people could sprint straight towards you, yet your bullets didn’t make their run stutter. So if you couldn’t put enough bullets in them to cause them to go down, the bullets were basically like soft Nerf darts. :/16/01/14 at 17:07 #209846AvengerParticipant
@Youles Spot on. I hate it when a guy comes up close with a custom melee weapon and kills me in one. Plus I use the stealth bow, so it’s up to the team to do their bit and for me to cover there backs and scout out the area. I can’t say custom load outs are of much use at the moment, although I’m veering away from guns and am quite liking the bow. The whole game has gotten me away from the somewhat tiresome Battlefield 3. That’s what counts! Even now I’m feeling an attraction to go and play TLoU again. The attraction is even beating hunger for dinner; very interesting.19/01/14 at 12:47 #209992
Finally got the AC4 platinum today so now on to Gran Turismo 6 and maybe Ghosts to finish it on veteran on PS4 having already done it on PS3.
As much as I enjoyed AC4 on single player, multiplayer ruined it for me – a couple of days of grinding at Wolfpack certainly killed my love for it… I’m just glad I didn’t attempt MP before the story or I think it would’ve put me off!19/01/14 at 20:52 #210000aerobesParticipant
A classic case of too many games, not enough time. Prototype 2, Killer is Dead, Puppeteer, FIFA 14, Gran Turismo 6, GTA 5, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and Beyond. It’s getting silly. PS4 may be further away than I thought.21/01/14 at 11:42 #210165TheDeathAvengerParticipant
Forgive me father for I have sinned, I’ve been playing Farming Simulator on Vita this week ;) (oh and a bit of Resogun).22/01/14 at 11:29 #210260freezebug2Participant
Been playing through Spec Ops – The Line, cracking game especially being a backlogged PS plus freebie added to the download list a few months back. Completed everything now and starting on FUBAR (pronounced FUCKBAR!) difficulty for the platinum trophy. Bloody tough going and a big spike in difficulty, just chucking grenades at the enemy from cover is enough for the immediate death syndrome….think I’ll make more use of squad orders tactical gameplay!22/01/14 at 11:37 #210261ron_mcphattyParticipant
@DeathAvenger, is Farming Simulator worth 3 quid? I’m sorely tempted, oooh arrr.22/01/14 at 13:01 #210274
I’ve just completed Annual Return, and will now be moving on to VAT Return this evening :(
However, I’ve been managing to do a bit of GTA grinding online at the same time; and managed the odd hour of Lego Lord of the Rings on Vita here and there at lunch breaks and at night.
Once I’ve finished my paperwork I intend to platinum Lego Marvel on PS4 before returning to Killzone Shadow Fall until something else on PS4 is released.22/01/14 at 16:22 #210305blackredyellowParticipant
One more ticked off the backlog… Platinum for Thor: God of Thunder :) The boss battles were a bit cheap due to how quickly they can finish you off on the hardest difficulty. Perseverance paid off in the end though!
Now for a bit of Killzone on PS4.
Next backlog project will be PoP: Warrior Within. Sitting on 1% trophies and irritating the shit out of me!24/01/14 at 09:58 #210427freezebug2Participant
Nice going BRY, ooh catching me up in the platinum trophy tally. Not heard of that game of yours, but well done anyway.24/01/14 at 10:17 #210433
Well done bry.
I played a single game of Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer last night and absolutely hated it. The movement is too slow – don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t want it to be a frantic as CoD, but it is so unbearably slow!! I hardly ever got shot, deaths came from people either spamming grenades or being stabbed by people I couldn’t see (that cloak thingy makes Commando from MW2 actually seem preferable). The motion blur was very off-putting too and ruins the decent visuals imo. I’ll obviously give it a few more goes before I fully make my mind up, but so far I’m not sold. On the plus side, if I don’t enjoy the multiplayer it’ll free up plenty of hours to play other games!
This week I’ve managed to go from level 36 to 48 on GTA online, so I hope to reach level 100 in the next month (or so).25/01/14 at 02:14 #210489
It’s been all about GT6 for me this week. Trophy list is sitting at 66% at the mo and I’ll rinse it for all I can but can’t see me getting this plat – the mileage trophies are a real drag :-( otherwise a decent game, loading times aside.
Also, is it just me who preferred the menus and layouts of GT5? Was a bit disappointed when I first booted it up – felt very old skool!
