Jeff Minter Not Happy

We like Jeff Minter, he was a hero of ours in the old days and recently developed the cool music visualiser on the Xbox 360 and the maligned, abused and terribly reviewed Live Arcade title Space Giraffe, which was actually pretty damned cool, but people seemed to just not get it at all – wrong target audience? He’s not happy anyway, as his Live Journal states today:

Not seeing a lot of reason to continue even trying to make games, at this point, when a remake of Frogger, one of the worst games in the history of old arcade games, can outsell Space Giraffe that we put so much love and effort into, by more than ten to one, in one week.

OK, we get the message. All you want on that channel is remakes of old, shite arcade games and crap you vaguely remember playing on your Amiga.

We’ll shut up trying to do anything new then.

Sorry for even trying.

We can kinda see his point – the 360 wasn’t the best choice for a game like Space Giraffe, where games have to be retro ports or feature space marines doing simple stuff like shooting to make an impact. Jeff, may we suggest the PSN, where more esoteric stuff like Fl0w sits happily next to more traditional stuff? I think we can.
