Some of the team here are far too into comics for their own good. I won’t mention names, but when they roll into TSA Towers dressed as Batman (and Robin) it just makes it harder for them to open up the Jaffa Cakes packaging. My level of interest goes as far as dipping in and out of the PSP’s comic viewer for things like Wallace and Gromit, so I’m not exactly an expert on Watchyman and Spider-Pig. Or whatever.
Regardless, SCEA’s hard working social media manager and all round superhero (sorry) Jeff Rubenstein has listed everything that PlayStation fans will want to check out at this year’s Comic-con, which starts this Thursday. It’s not all comics, see, and it looks like the PlayStation gang are going to be there in force showing off some of their biggest games to everyone attended the event in sunny San Diego. Great place, by the way.
First off is an exclusive, invite only cocktail evening on Thursday. 40 readers of the PlayStation Blog will get to sip, er, drinks and sample titles like Motorstorm Apocalypse, Dead Nation, Pixeljunk Shooter 2 and Echochrome 2 – hands on with some of the PlayStation’s biggest upcoming games. If you’ve not applied I think you’ve missed your shot at this, but don’t fret, there’s more.
Sony have actually got a booth set up at the show. It’s numer 4237, and Jeff tells us it’s right next to Capcom and WarnerBros’ stands. On the stand you’ll get to play LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3, Gran Turismo 5 (in 3D), The Sly Collection, God of War: Ghost of Sparta and – yes – lots of Move titles. Seriously, it’s like E3 but without the threat of the presence of silly ponchos. I’m incredibly jealous I’m not out in San Diego this year.
And that’s not all. On Thursday Sucker Punch are hosting a panel talking about inFamous 2, David Jaffe’s talking about Twisted Metal on Friday and Ready at Dawn are hosting a chat about the new God of War on the Saturday. There’s also stacks of non-Playstation specific events that are still games related, meaning that anyone remotely interested in console gaming and is in the vicinity of Southern California really needs to be there.
We’ll have any gossip as it breaks, of course.

Sounds awesome. I’ve wished to live in San Diego for it’s amazing climate, and here’s another reason.
On a side note, I just got a job in the gaming department of a Best Buy. Hopefully I get some advance information at some point ;)

i’m gonna go out on a limb and assume they’ll show some more of the dcu mmo, though i am aware that is something of a long shot. :)

Sadly most of the panels at SDCC have nothing to do with comics any more, there’s a general feeling they’ll drop the word ‘comics’ in a few years.
