In a surprise announcement, Activision have confirmed that ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops’ will support 3D on both PS3 and Xbox – assuming you have 3D TV. Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia picked up a big stick and jabbed out of the screen whilst saying:
“Development of stereoscopic 3D began as an R&D project, but once we saw what the technology brought to the Call of Duty experience, what a great fit and how immersive it was, we knew that we had to develop it for Black Ops.”
“We made sure the experience is seamless for gamers to use with a simple menu option to enable stereoscopic 3D or disable it at any time whether playing in the single player campaign, multiplayer or Zombies.”
Call Of Duty is famous for its super slick visual and 60 FPS frame rate, I wonder if Treyarch can keep these high standards while the game runs in 3D?

mw2 ran at sub-hd (600p, I think) and had the occaisonial frame rate drop, without 3D right? so they can’t do it at 30fps per eye either, the flickering would make it unviewable. so it has to be a total of 120fps (60 per eye), not to mention an increase of resolution needed to have two images!
3D viewing is going to be a little sour for this game.
