SEGA Europe has launched an introduction trailer for its upcoming Kinect exclusive ‘Sonic Free Riders’. An update on the ‘Sonic Riders’ series, the game demands you control your racer using body movements. From looking at the trailer I’m fairly sure my old, decrepit body won’t be able to keep up.

The thing is, this is not a true representation of the game… it’s just some model bobbing backwards and forwards, we don’t see how the game reacts to his movements and with the majority of games for kinect having big lag issues I can see this getting either old or frustrating very quickly!
Zoidberg79
Yes, more marketing spin.
Couldn’t this game be done on PS3 simply by using the PS Eye??
jonny_bolton
You know what’s wrong with this game. Sonic is on a hoverboard and not running. Why would he use board when he’s the fastest thing on the planet? Stupid.
Crazy_Del
^ Very true
I love Sonic but a hooverboard – seriously. I guess Sonic is getting lazy these days now =P
KeRaSh
There is NOTHING on this planet that does not improve with a hoveboard. Haven’t you seen Back to the Future?
DannyFantango
Very true, because of Back to the Future I will be the first person to buy a hoverboard, hell, I’m even wearing two ties right now!
Quinlank
Having played Sonic Riders 2 on PS2 years back, I can tell you there is at least ONE thing that doesn’t improve with the addition of a hoverboard.
Bilbo_bobbins
leaning back like that? Maybe if you are fit and able to. Just can’t see this working at all.
Tuffcub
apperently it hurts an awful lot.
Kennykazey
I actually think this could work to a certain degree, the moves are most likely overdone in this trailer. But the game would most likely still be rubbish…
DannyFantango
The game will be rubbish, Sonic Riders on PS2 and Wii were rubbish, I don’t know why they didn’t just make a kinect version of Sonic All stars racing.
And this is coming out after Sega have removed their bad Sonic games from their website, madness!

@jayjay119
Errrm its a trailer, kinda unrepresentative like the majority of other games which use pre-rendered cgi.
@bilbo
Have you played or seen Shaun White Snowboarding on the Wii with the balance board? Amazing fun and works a treat, I presume this will be similar but without the awkward balance board.
Charmed_Fanatic
Why is ir Sonic FREE Riders? They giving it away?
Voolar
No, there’s no On-Line game mode, so you can play it using the Xbox Live Free subscription…
DRCD1
I think it’s because it’s not on-rails (like Sonic Riders, I belive)
bunimomike
Not a Sonic fan; not a Kinect fan but that looked easily the strongest title so far. Fun and entertaining. Not sure how the Kinect lag will translate into making quick decisions but still, it looks good.
Dan Lee
Not played it, but one particular hands on I have read gave it a right kicking, saying it gets very uncomfortable to play due to the bending back/forward motions, among other things. SEGA may have adjusted that for the final code though.
solidsteven
All for £130. Do MS seriously think that this gme will sell kinnect?
iAvernus
Not bashing you or anything, but the only thing MS needs to sell anything is marketing. They’re a marketing powerhouse and will sell tons of Kinect and lame games for the whole family to play.
Quinlank
Not if people actually take a look at what they’re buying.
Which admittedly they probably won’t… all the majority of Kinect’s marks will need to hear is that Oprah told them they want it and away they go.
