Originally pencilled in for a release this year, the third chapter in the F.E.A.R. series was ultimately pushed into early 2011. Perpetually peculiar Alma is back, with her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel featuring as playable characters.
Pulling out all the stops, publisher WB Games have hired legendary horror and science-fiction maestro John Carpenter to help on the game’s cinematics. And in the plot department, renowned comic-book writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) has been brought in to handle scripting duties.
It would appear developer Day 1 Studios (taking over full development duties from Monolith Studios, Day 1 having worked on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the original F.E.A.R.) are also taking note of other games and the features that we, the players, gravitate toward. F.E.A.R. 3 will introduce a new cover system along with the now almost mandatory of game modes in FPS titles, co-op.
F.E.A.R. has been a steady franchise for WB, and with the calibre of talent on board in this outing combined with the aforementioned feature updates, we’re hoping part 3 delivers with the necessary scares and story.
The official release date for F.E.A.R. 3 is March 22nd, 2011. The game is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
