Channel 5 Bringing ‘Demand Five’ To PS3?

According to ‘Media Week’, Channel 5 is in talks with Sony to bring its Demand Five catch-up TV service to the PS3.  You can currently watch Demand Five through the PS3’s web browser, but an actual application would make for a much better user experience.

This is frankly terrifying for me.  The wife already watches far too much ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Home and Away’.  If she finds out there’s a catch-up service I’m afraid that’ll be the end of me.  Sad times my friends.

  1. I used to like Neighbours but now I prefer Home and Away again. It’s like Hollyoaks but the tidy girls are all in bikini’s, oh yeah !
“Hold me in your arms, don’t let me goooo. I want yo stayyy forever, closer each daaaayyyy, Home and Away !”
    Good news.

    • I don’t get that. Watch porn. The acting is just as bad but at least they do sex

  2. Couldnt care less about chanel 5, unless of course id have the csi catalogue at the mercy of my thumbs. 4od is what im after.

  3. I dunno why people are slating 5 so much, The Gadget Show is on there; surely that’s enough in itself! I’m enjoying The Event at the moment too. Did like Flash Forward before it got cancelled.

    • The Event is on 4 but guess you knew that. Like Lost once the viewing figures pick up Sky’ll probably snaffle season 2 or 3 onwards. Liked Flash Forward but gave up after about 5 or 6 episodes when I realised it got canned. Did it ‘end’ properly and is it therefore worth picking up on dvd?

      • The Event is on 4? Damn, that’s why it looked like Home and Away. I’m the same as you on Flash Forward. I stopped watching once I heard it got cancelled.

      • You could always read the book it’s based on.

  4. Would be pretty cool. If we get ITV Player, 4OD and D5, i’d be a happy bunny.

  5. Will they be showing in HD as well as SD?

  6. Ah Channel 5. Home to all those wonderous Shannon Tweed (she’s Gene Simmons’ wife don’t you know/ care?) movies as I recall. Sadly I feel down to a rights issue it’s unlikely that cinematic classics of this ilk will not be available for my consumption on the player. I shall have to just let Babestation suffice….

  7. I like the idea of TV players on the PS3. They don’t get in the way of anything eles and it adds even more to the overall PS3 package.

  8. Arghhhhh, it wouldn’t matter if all the channels in the world made their sites available on the PS3, until the browser is upgraded it’ll just be juddery, artefact laden, freeze prone, error ridden video.
Still, at least we might be approaching the time when something will happen – http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/07/26/ps3-web-browser-to-get-big-upgrade-soon/

  9. This sounds great, good way to catch up on the mentalist :P

  10. I just use it for The Gadget Show if I forget to record it.
