Sony have spoken to UK magazine EDGE in connection to the recent targeted hack of the PlayStation 3’s security system. Responding to hacking group fail0verflow’s declaration that the PS3’s console was now “completely compromised,” Sony have stated that they are aware of the claim and will respond accordingly. They said:
We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it.
We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details.
The company statement apparently counters wide-spread claims that there was now no way back for their HD console – because the breach allows hackers to sign unauthorised software as genuine – other than the electronics giant releasing new hardware.
As always, piracy invariably damages the gaming industry. Don’t do it. Seriously.

cam the man
If they damage their PS3s they’ve only got one person to blame.

Anyone think that PlayStation 4 will be like PSPGo? In that you will only be able to play downloadbale games rather than buy those old fashioned blu-rays, or it might even just be a portal to cloud-gaming servers?

On the subject of piracy, from the anecdotal evidence from parents and kids at my lad’s school, pretty much every owner of a Nitendo DS seems to have one of those R4i cards and simply get their games from t’internet. If piracy is rife on the NDS then why are there are so many games coming out for the NDS all the time? (I’ll answer my own question and guess that it’s dirty cheap to develop for and so money lost to piracy hits profit margins but because dev costs are so low they can take the hit.)

i dont condone pirates BUT…
I think homebrew has a place on console – maybe if sony allowed people to do it in a way that is safe then that would be best.
and sony letting EA and others rip us off, actually makes me want to stick my fingers up at them and download games TBH seriously!
