This isn’t the first time this rumour has surfaced (it’s not even the second) but yesterday Joystiq reported that the whispers are indeed true: there will be a remake of the first (and arguably the best) Halo game, and it’s due this year – November 15th, to be precise. Yep, ten years to the day after Combat Evolved launched.
So who’s behind this HD revision, which is said to feature new ‘art assets’ alongside the original audio and updated controls? New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, apparently, who are using something other than the recent Reach engine – it might even be the one they used for their last game, Timeshift, although we suspect 343 and Bungie might be slightly more involved.
Joystiq suggests that the game will run in 1080p and support 3D televisions, plus the ability to play the previously offline co-op over the internet. If even half of all this is true we’ll be delighted, Halo is a brilliant game and deserves the relaunch – after all, if Prince of Persia can do it then we’re of the opinion this Xbox classic certainly can.
Now, where did I put my sniper rifle?

I’m sorry, but I have to say this.
This is classic Microsoft. Always saying “Me too!”

I’m calling it now… it’s going to support a full kinect interface. Although on a side note, I know the original Halo carries the money stick, but is this what MS is doing to compete this fall? And is there any word on the MP, as IMO that’s the only reason to re-buy this.

I remember when Halo 3 was the last Halo in the series ….. :P
