Sony Working On “TV/Video Streaming App”

[drop2]Here’s an interesting one.  It looks like, based on a series of job adverts in this month’s Edge magazine, SCEE are working on a TV/video streaming service.

It’s not clear whether or not it’s a brand new application, but as one role is for a User Interface Developer it’s likely that if it’s not, it’s an existing tool that’s getting a facelift.

Vidzone?  Unlikely.  PlayTV, possibly, but that doesn’t stream movies that wouldn’t normally be classified as TV.

The other jobs are for a C/C++ Engineer and a JavaScript Developer, all of which specifically mention a “movie/TV streaming application for PlayStation 3” except the C/C++ programmer, which just states “video”.

All the roles are with SCEE’s Research and Development group, suggesting whatever this is, it’s potentially some way away.

  1. Probably a service to boost the Vita’s available content. I’m sure the PS3 would be included as well. Hope you guys keep an eye on this situation. Sounds like it could get really interesting. Maybe an iTunes store killer?

  2. I’m still waiting to hear from the rumors of a YouTube program for PS3.

    • If you mean to watch youtube videos then use PS3youtube.com from your PS3.

Excellent site for watching Youtube videos in high quality.

If not to watch them then i’m interested as to what program you mean (:
