According to Japanese site, Esuteru, some retailers have broken the street date of Dark Souls. Developer ‘From Software’ has decided to combat this in an unusually cruel way by invading the games of those playing early.
That’s right, they are sending maxed out Black Phantoms into the games, and they have some pretty terrifying stats such as level 145, 1900HP, and all abilities at the maximum 99.
It would have been nicer to simply pop round and just punch the player in the face!

Couldn’t they, you know, just turn the feckin’ servers off until tomorrow, instead of punishing people who have still legitimately bought the game? It’s not their fault, it’s the retailers’ fault.
Meh. Cool idea though :P

So the less-well informed person gets destroyed in seconds and thinks “wow, this game is to hard for me” and never plays it again.
Not really thought through that idea, as innovative as it is.
And still not the consumer’s fault.

Ugh.
*too hard.
I hate myself…

So, again the gamer gets punished. The gamer doen’t break any rules but gets penalised for it. Nice one!!

extreme cruelty

Cant they just get around this by playing offline?
Kennykazey
And be called a pussy for the rest of this generation? :-P

That’s pretty cool. I’ve always wanted to play Demons Souls, since before it was released in the EU, but I’ve never got round to it. And now there’s a sequel… Will probably get the games in the next drought, and never finish them.

It’s not a punishment. It’s a tutorial.

Hmm, give people an opportunity to be a complete imbecile with relative anonymity and they’ll never disappoint.
RudeAwakening
How are retailers even allowed to sell it early?
Sympozium
They get it early?
