Uncharted 3 MP Update Brings Fixes, New Maps

Naughty Dog has announced that the latest update for Uncharted 3’s early access multiplayer has gone live. Aside from fixing a few bugs players have been experiencing, the first patch also adds two new maps, Highrise and Molten Ruins.

Those who purchased the multiplayer DLC for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will immediately recognise the two latest additions, Molten Ruins being a volcanic twist on the Drake’s Fortune map with Highrise now being set during the night.

From hours of experience with Uncharted 2’s multiplayer I can say that both maps are exceptional and do a fine job in showing off the gameplay’s verticality.

The total number of multiplayer now stands at 8, and they’re a varied bunch I can tell you, though it seems that even more are on the way. When cycling through the multiplayer menus you will notice that in the background is a section from a multiplayer map which cycles at random.

Prior to ND’s latest announcement we had actually spotted a background which looked identical to the newly announced Molten Ruins map. Having also seen an updated version of The Museum and a snowy backdrop (which also features a frozen submarine,) we suspect more maps are inbound, hopefully launching before the full game launches on November 2nd.

We’ll have the full review soon.

  1. Just tried them out, hugely impressed with what they did with Molten Ruins, looks sooo good! Only rivaled by Desert Village when it comes to awesome-lookingness.

The patch did some things to the leaderboards though. They’ve filled in the K/D ratio column for the kills leaderboards, but also reset a lot of players stats, me being one of them. (the 3.5 K/D I’ve got now is pleasing to look at though)

And lastly, as you mentioned Teabags, the icy-submarine is part of the Facility map from UC2, in it’s frozen down state. The Museum will also probably be in UC3. :)
