Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 Will Miss August Release Date

Eurogamer is reporting that stealthy shooter sequel Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 has been delayed until October 9th, missing its original late-August window. Publisher Namco Bandai have yet to give a reason for the decision, though we suspect the team at City Interactive are beavering away at some last minute tweaks and polishing.

We were hardly blown away by the original Ghost Warrior (our review) though it did show promise. Having racked an impressive 2 million sales, a sequel was justified on two fronts, and with the power of CryEngine 3 Ghost Warrior 2 is really starting to shape up.

Hopefully an early October release won’t put a dent in the game’s commercial success. Wedged between the likes of Resident Evil 6, Dishonored, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and Assassin’s Creed III, there are plenty of reasons for gamers to put off buying. However, as we’ve seen on a few occasions, slapping the word “Sniper” on your front cover is bound to ensure a place for you on the weekly retail top 40 charts.
