Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC Continues To Be Xbox 360 Exclusive

It appears that the Skyrim Dawnguard DLC will continue to be an Xbox 360 exclusive for the foreseeable future.

Bethesda’s marketing head, Pete Hines, has tweeted “We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I’d tell you.”

Many had expected Dawnguard to have a month long exclusivity window and that it would appear on PS3 and PC this week but Bethesda may have been forbidden to discuss other formats as part of the Xbox 360 contract.

PS3 owners will be getting the Skyrim 1.7 patch which has recently been released on Steam. The patch contains the updates from patch 1.6 (which has never been released on PS3) including mounted combat, alongside a few extra bug fixes.

The patch will arrive “in the coming weeks”.

  1. FFS, Bethesda. Are you actually trying to piss off your PC fans as it seems like it. They only helped you to become the company that you are today! I understand if the PS3 version wasn’t released till next week due to it store updates but i think Steam allows you to upload it whenever you please. If it turns out that all Rimlag DLC will be exclusive for the rest of Rimlag’s life, i won’t be happy. Oh and i’m bloody annoyed that they delayed then canncelled patch 1.6 for PS3 because it had DG files in it. As if we can view them! Oh and if it turns out to be more expensive then the 360 version. I won’t bother. :)

    • To be honest mate, i think you will be sorely disappointed if you expect Skyrim DLC next week.

If however you are talking about the patch, that could be released any time they feel like. Doesn’t have to wait for a store update.

      • I meant if it was released for PC yesterday, i would understand if it didn’t make an appearance on PS3 till next update. :)

As for patches, they have no excuse for cancelling it as even SCEE wouldn’t stop it due to the massive backlash that they would get. Also, it seems that they have actually had it ready for a while now and then forgot to release it. :O

  2. Boo, not playing it anymore, will get back into it when the DLC arrives, but I may have traded it in by then!

  3. We can send bethesta the tears of disappointed fans and mabay they will then understand. if its not next week then it wont be for a long time im betting. :(

The only hope there is that microsoft only got the first 2 DLCs as timed exclusives.

  4. this certainly isnt going to persuade me to go back to xbox 360. This is yet another example of Microsoft being greedy and using underhand tactics to try and get more people to buy their hardware.
