Well this is good, if slightly confusing news.
Sony recently shut down its Liverpool studios, the home of WipeEout. They said that wherever possible the staff would be relocated.
It was assumed that the team were working on a WipEout game for the PS4.
Today the official WipEout 2048 Twitter feed tweeted ‘WE. ARE. ALIVE’ and the picture above.
Sony have declined to comment but it appears that although Studio Liverpool has gone, a new WipEout team has been formed elsewhere.
Best news of the day? Yup.

While we wait for news on the future of WipEout, Online play will continue to be supported and there will be plenty of WipEout community events, giveaways and goodies to look forward to! WipEout’s passion will live on – Together we are stronger and together we will keep WipEout alive.”
MCV says that they’ve had two sources tell them Evolution is not taking over WipEout too.

I’m a little sceptical. More Wipeout is always good in my books but if another team takes over I’d first have to see if they do the franchise justice.

Wasn’t it said that Liverpool were working in a newvWipeout and an original IP when the studio closed? Maybe they just transferred development else where. After all it’s not likevWipeout doesn’t sell. Sony would be mad to abandon the brand.
