The PlayStation Access Facebook page has just updated with some official, high quality shots of the DualShock 4. While you may have only got a glimpse of the final controller earlier, these images show everything from the touchpad to the redesigned triggers. And it’s looking very good indeed.
It’s certainly an improvement over that prototype that has been doing the rounds in the last week and looks like it’ll be a very comfortable fit in to most people’s hands.
We won’t know for sure until we actually get to hold one, but it seems to have found that middle ground between the smaller DualShock 3 and the larger Xbox 360 pad.
It’s interesting, too, that the classic Start button has been replaced by an Options button and the Select button is gone altogether, making way for a Share button to enable those new social features.

Don’t like them analogue sticks. Bet it will change before E3. Clearly only showed it as it had been leaked everywhere.

It looks comforable to hold and i don’t envisage any issues using the touch pad where it’s located.

I’m glad it’s still in the shape of the Dualshock and doesn’t have the left stick in the place of the directional buttons as it would end up annoying me if it did go for the 360 layout. Hopefully, the new triggers will eliminate the skipping scenes in films if you put your Dualshock down on the sofa whilst watching it problem that the DS3 had. If the touchscreen can be disabled, then i don’t mind it.
As for the share button, i’m unsure about it.

I like the finished design. It’s clearly a nice evolution of the DS3. If I had to bitch about something, it would be the two tone black design of the controller. I’d prefer a unified color but it’s just a very minor niggle.

The bottom of the ‘handles’ seem to have a more grippy texture which should be better, and it’s only about 10mm wider than DS3.

I was so worried they were going to come out with something completely different, maybe even a console that doesn’t use a controller. When they showed this, I breathed a sigh of releif, and I wasn’t disappointed. Its got changes but you will still be able to just pick it up and use it naturally as I have with all the PlayStation controllers. Looking forward to this
