Titanfall’s Season Pass Details Announced

I’m sure many of you are shocked! Shocked, I tell you, to hear that a game based purely around online multiplayer is going to get post-release DLC packs and a season pass to go with it.

Of course, it was inevitable really, but Respawn have announced what their intentions are with regard to supporting their highly anticipated game after it launches next week.

For $24.99, or £19.99 in the UK, the season pass will get you the three planned DLC packs. This will apparently only save you $5 over buying them individually, and while I’m not sure what that saving would be in GBP, there’s also a Origin-based PC Digital Deluxe edition which knocks an extra $5/£5 off buying separately. I would suggest shopping around, though.

Thankfully, they seem to be avoiding the complicated staggered releases of content that we see with Battlefield’s Premium, so this is a fairly straight forward pre-ordering of the DLC.

Each pack will have maps, that’s a given, but there’s nothing more to say just yet about other content that will be included. However, speaking to Gamespot, Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella did reveal that there would also be free additions and expansions to the game alongside the paid DLC.

“We’re going to do paid DLC. We’re also going to do free updates. There are things that we want in the game that we didn’t get to ship in the final game. So we’ll add private matches and things like that for free. There will be some paid DLC. We’re going to do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, it’s a deal. We’re not going to do microtransactions. You just buy it up front, and you get a better price.”

Simple.
