Remember when electronics were grey? And they weren’t just grey out of necessity – grey technology was cool, and looked less tacky than black at the time – somehow – as shown by the original PlayStation. Don’t you wish everything was grey again?
Well, to celebrate PlayStation’s 20th anniversary, Sony will be releasing a grey PS4 which looks quite similar to the one which started it all in Japan in 1994, complete with colour logo. There will only be 12300 of these in existence, so getting one might be a challenge in itself. In fact, in Europe you won’t be able to purchase it outright from retailers:
Given this very limited production run, the 20th Anniversary Edition will not be available via traditional retail channels in the SCEE region. Look out for more information soon on how you can get your hands on one of these highly collectable consoles.
As you can see from the gallery and video above, it’s a very nostalgic throwback and sure to be a piece of gaming history. Even the DualShock 4 has had a makeover, too, keeping the sticks but making it look close to the original controller design.

UPDATE: There are also menu themes for PS3, PS Vita, and PS4 available on the store right now, transforming your system’s menu into a nostalgic throwback.
