SCE UK Boss Fergal Gara Has Resigned, To Be Replaced By Warwick Light

Fergal Gara, has resigned after four years in charge of Sony Computer Entertainment UK, MCV have reported, with Sony saying that he is leaving to “pursue a new professional venture.” He is to be replaced by Warwick Light, who is currently GM of Nordics, East & South East Europe.

“I have had a fantastic time leading the PlayStation business in the UK and Ireland over the past four years,” Gara said. “I am very grateful for having had this opportunity and I want to thank my team who have been amazing and, of course, Jim [Ryan], for his support along with the wider PlayStation family who have helped make this period as successful as it has been.”

Coming in at the tail end of the PlayStation 3 generation, Gara has presided over the UK launches of the PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 4, with the latter achieving a dominant market position in the UK. Certainly, Sony will be looking to strengthen their position, and in addition to thanking Gara for his contribution, SCE president and CEO Jim Ryan said, “I have complete confidence that Warwick is the right person to replace Fergal in the UK role, and his 20 years of service to Sony has been marked by outstanding performance.”
