Community Round-Up: 31/10/15

Last weekend’s Grand Prix was the best we’ve had in awhile, with Hamilton clinching the title tricky conditions. This weekend though, F1 returns to Mexico for the first time in a long, long time, and New Zealand battle Australia to become the Rugby World Cup winners.

But, with the likes of Halo 5 being released and Paris Games Week, it’s also been a big week in the world of gaming, so let’s begin this week’s Community Round-Up!

CRU2-PCARSMeet

Looking at the Meets, chances are that Monday will see the usual Project CARS meet, with the odd Rocket League or GTA V Meet thrown in elsewhere.

If you’d rather play something else, you can add your own Meet to the list, provided you have more than 250 TSA Points.

Let’s kick things off with the reviews. Last week, Jim reviewed a game with a ludicrously long title, but Dom’s tried to surpass that with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. The game also gets the award for our high scorer, and with a 9/10, Dom calls it “a fantastic handheld RPG with a deep combat system, characters that you care about, and a well-delivered story.”

Meanwhile, Matt gave an 8/10 to Halo 5: Guardians, saying that if you aren’t looking for something new, then it delivers on the trademark gameplay and multiplayer that fans have come to love. Also on an 8/10 was Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition, which sees the isometric RPG heading to consoles, with an additional interview with the studio’s founder. With “a huge and enthralling adventure”, Dom says there are countless hours of fun to be had here.

Jim thinks Warhammer: The End Times – Vermintide could become a great sleeper hit, thanks to its “weighty, visceral combat” and “fun, light RPG mechanics”. He also gave a 7/10 to Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut, which makes its transition to consoles, as Dave reviewed BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend, another game this week to get a 7/10.

Lastly, we had Jackbox Party Pack 2 on a 7/10 from Dom, and One Upon Light, the black and white-styled puzzler from Aran on a 6/10.

Switching our attention to the previews now, we had three from Stefan. First he looked at Media Molecule’s Dreams, before looking at Battleborn how Gearbox are blending genres together. He also looked at Hard West, and had a chat with the lead designer about its XCOM origins.

The Open Forum discussed Sony abandoning the Vita, while in the Chronicle, Hot Topics talked about EA’s avoidance of game remasters and the Kojima-Konami fiasco.

There was no Podcast this week, but rest easy as Stefan brought us What We Played #227.

Let’s have a look in the Forums:

  • In the what are you playing thread, Hornet1990 has completed The Witcher 3 just in time for Fallout 4 in a fortnight
  • Meanwhile, Cam wonders if anyone is up for some Rocket League in TSA’s PS4 Community

Enjoy your weekend, whatever that might include, and I’ll be here again this time next week, bye!
