Yooka-Laylee is looking bloody lovely, as I told you all a couple months back, and now a bunch of Kickstarter backers are getting to see that for themselves, with the promised release of the Yooka-Laylee Sandbox.
Going out today for all those that backed the game with applicable tiers – anyone who paid £20 or more – this isn’t a traditional demo, in that it’s a level that’s been built from the ground up to show off the gameplay, but without giving away any spoilers or letting people preview the levels that will appear in the final game. Even the graphics are far from comparable to how the finished game will look, but there still are a bunch of moves to try out, secrets to discover and, of course, some collectibles to hunt down. There’s even a new NPC to meet and chat to.
If you backed the game, keep an eye on your inbox, and head over to the latest Kickstarter update for details about what’s in the Toybox demo and who you need to do in order to play it.
For the rest of us, Yooka-Laylee is coming out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Wii U, Linux and Mac in Q1 2017.
