Beginning the PC Gaming show at E3 comes a new trailer for a new expansion for XCOM 2 – dubbed War of the Chosen – which has the basic premise that Advent has a number of insurgent groups trying to take them down. The only problem is, they all hate each other.
First ones to be described were The Chosen who are ultimately enemies of XCOM. There are allegedly three of them with distinct personalities and fighting styles and are recurring enemies. The Assassin is honour bound. Wielding a sword and can use stealth and Close Quarter Combat; vanishing in order to get close. The Hunter meanwhile is the longer ranged sniper, and the Warlock uses special powers.
XCOM is also bolstered with three other resistance groups that you must convince to fight alongside XCOM. Each one unlocks 3 new powerful soldiers: The Reaper – a stealth based combatant, Skirmishers that are deserters of the Alien army, and the Templars who are essentially psyonic wildlings.
Ton of new enemies, factions, and is reportedly twice the size of any XCOM expansion. In addition to all of this are the Lost, who are heavily mutated humans that act in large swarms. They hate XCOM and the aliens equally, but are mindless so can easily surround players.
It all looks fantastically bonkers and having another excuse to take down Advent with more complexities makes the base game seem more fun. XCOM 2: War of the Chosen will release certainly on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on August 29th 2017.
