The Total War franchise has been going strong for a long time and has been quite a large franchise in SEGA’s portfolio, with Creative Assembly putting together games that take inspiration from both real historical conflicts as well as fantastical ones. Today both Creative Assembly and SEGA announced a new spin off series called Total War Saga, which will take place within snapshots of history.
The first of these is Thrones Of Britannia and it is set in 878 AD following the Viking invasion after Ragnar Lothbrook;s death. Now they have settled and the isle is splintered. King Alfred of Wessex aims to unite the kingdoms under one ruler, but others have their sights set on power too. Thrones Of Britannia is set to release in 2018.
