Ubisoft Announce Year 3 Of Rainbow Six Siege Content, Starting With Operation Chimera

Ubisoft’s tense tactical FPS Rainbow Six Siege is getting a third year of content, the company announced at the Pro League Final this weekend, continuing to build and grow what has become a mainstay of the competitive gaming scene.

Year 3 will, as with the first two years, be structured into four seasons, bringing eight new operators from around the world, two new maps set in Italy and Morocco and a map makeover with a new level design and art direction. It’s a shift in terms of the amount of content coming to the game, but Ubisoft are taking the opportunity to experiment.

It will start with Operation Chimera, which explores quarantine and biohazard threats with specialists from France and Russia. For the first time there will be a co-op event called Outbreak which will take place over four weeks during Season 1 and be free to play for all Rainbow Six Siege owners. A full reveal of this content will occur at the Six Invitational 2018, which will take place in Montreal on the weekend of the 16th-18th February.

Season 2 will revert to type with a pair of Italian GIS operators and a new map set in Italy, before Season 3 diverges again with an operator from Scotland Yard in the UK and Delta Force in the US alongside a complete overhaul of an existing map. The year will be rounded out with a pair of Moroccan GIGR operators and a map in Morocco.
