Phoenix Wright meets Yakuza seems to be the order of the day for the team behind the widely popular Yakuza game series, as Project Judge was revealed as Judge Eyes at the Sony’s pre-TGS 2018 conference.

OK, so maybe it’s a bit more like a gritty lawyer TV show, certainly with more than a little of the seediness and drama that you know from the Yakuza series. The game’s protagonist is a digitised version of Japanese singer and actor Takuya Kimura alongside a cast of other real life actors and actresses, firmly dropping this into the kind of territory that only really Quantic Dream and Kojima Productions are taking on.
A demo is available on the Japanese PlayStation Store, with the game launching in Japan on 13th December. As with the Yakuza games, it’ll be a while before we might hope to see it localised and released in the West.
