Square Enix has announced that it is pulling the mobile game Kingdom Hearts Union X[Cross] from Belgium on December 6th, with the company “citing the present uncertain legal status of loot boxes under Belgian law.” This follows moves made by Blizzard and 2K Games who also removed the options to purchase loot boxes with real money. EA have so far refused to comply with the ruling made in Belgium.
Square Enix has stated that players will be able to continue playing Kingdom Hearts Union X[Cross] in Belgium until the December 6th cut off point, after which access to the game will no longer be possible. Square Enix “recommends” Belgian residents spend any unused in-game currency now and enjoy the game for as long as possible.
