EA Remove NFL Player From Madden 19 After He Assaulted A Woman

At the end of last week, Kareem Hunt was dropped as a player by NFL team Kansas City Chiefs and received effectively banned from all forms of the sport by its governing body. Now, just days later, EA have also removed him from Madden NFL 19, instead replacing him with a generic player that has the same stats.

This string of decisions have come after damning evidence has appeared of Hunt assaulting a woman. TMZ aired a video showing him kicking and shoving the woman in a Cleveland hotel back in February. While the team were made aware of this around the time of the event, Hunt denied the allegations, but those denials have clearly proven to be empty.

EA have had to react to such real world events in the past, dropping former Ravens player Ray Rice after TMZ aired a video of him beating his then fiancee and him being charged with aggravated assault. The company have also kept a close eye on the allegations of rape made against Cristiano Ronaldo shortly after the launch of FIFA 19. While on the game’s cover art, they seemed to deemphasise him in their social media at the same time.
