Good news! The Minecraft movie will not be in cinemas for ages!

The long awaited Minecraft movie is going to make you wait even longer, and as no one has ever managed to make a really good movie out of a video game that’s probably a good thing. It will hit cinemas on March 4th 2022, “It’s only 1053 days. Or about 34 months, or 150 weeks, or a million and a half minutes,” the Minecraft blog notes.

That would mean most of the people who grew up playing Minecraft are well on their way to adulthood so they better hope the game is still popular in 2022. Mojang themselves are making the movie with Warner Bros as a partner and Peter Sollett (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist) in the directors chair.

The live action (!) film is “the story of a teenage girl and her unlikely group of adventurers. After the malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction, they must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld.”
