After a few weeks at the top of the charts, PlayStation 4 exclusive Days Gone has been knocked off its perch by post-apocalyptic open world shooter Rage 2. As with every game in the last few years, the retail sales for Rage 2 failed to meet the sales of the 2011 original, only managing to sell a quarter of what the first game did. While we don’t have the digital sales statistics, it can account for around half a game’s sales in certain circumstances. Even factoring that in, you’d suspect that this game fell short of the original by quite some margin.
It tops the charts by virtue of coming after a few slow weeks in UK games retail. There haven’t been any big game releases since Days Gone and Mortal Kombat 11 at the end of April. It’s thanks to this that A Plague’s Tale: Innocence gets to share some of the top 10 spotlight – which from our review, it thoroughly deserves – and while Sniper Elite V2 Remastered only managed to chart in 13th, it was just 100 units from getting into the top 10.
Speaking of which, here it is, the top 10:
|2||4||Mortal Kombat 11|
|4||5||Red Dead Redemption II|
|6||6||Mario Kart 8 Deluxe|
|5||7||Grand Theft Auto V|
|7||8||Tom Clancy’s The Division 2|
|NE||9||A Plague Tale: Innocence|
|8||10||New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe|
