Frontier announced its new management sim Planet Zoo in April, and if you couldn’t guess from the name it’s all about managing a zoo. The game is geared much more towards simulation as there is a focus on animal welfare and conservation, as well as creating a place the people will enjoy visiting. The animals aren’t just there for entertainment with each species acting how it would in reality, so players will need to pay attention to getting the surroundings right for these animals to thrive. It seems like a similar system found in Frontier’s Jurassic World Evolution, where you have to make sure each dinosaur is in the correct habitat and the herd size isn’t too large or small lest they get annoyed and break the fences.
Planet Zoo will have both a campaign mode which sees players building and maintaining zoos around the world, and a sandbox mode so you can build a zoo how you wish. Furthermore there will be a version of creation tools similar to those found in Planet Coaster, and players will be able to share creations. There are two versions of the game to pre-order with the standard edition being $44.99/£34.99 and the Digital Deluxe edition which comes in at $54.99/£42.99.
The digital deluxe edition includes:
- Pre-launch Beta access.
- Three exclusive animals – Komodo Dragon, Pygmy Hippopotamus, and Thomson’s Gazelle
- High-quality wallpapers.
- Original Soundtrack by Jim Guthrie and JJ Ipsen.
Planet Zoo will be available on November 5th.
