EA and PopCap have confirmed that Plants vs Zombies 3 is in development and that a closed pre-alpha is taking place on Android devices for select players. As you can imagine the pre-alpha will only allow a small number of players in and that it is far from the finished title. The aim of this alpha is to look into Plants vs Zombies 3’s combat mechanics, and see how they’re working and what elements of them will need tweaking so there’s a decent balance between units.
PopCap has apparently wanted to make this game for a while and will be looking to bring the game to as many people as possible. However, there’s no release date set for the final release of Plants vs Zombies 3, nor do we have confirmed platforms outside of Android. It would be unsurprising to see the game on iOS, Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One though considering the franchise has appeared for most of those platforms in the past.
If you haven’t been able to get into the current alpha test do not fret. PopCap has confirmed that there will be different phases and that players should keep an eye on the store to see when Plants vs Zombies 3 links appear. If you are looking to play the closed pre-alpha then you’ll need devices like the Galaxy S7 or higher with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or higher in order to run Plants vs Zombies 3 properly. Due to the nature of this being an alpha there will be progress wipes. The pre-alpha doesn’t have micro-transactions but that may be different for the final game. A constant internet connection is also required to play as the studio will be relying on the data being sent back so changes can be made as and when they are required.
PopCap will be revealing more news soon.
