It’s time for some retro rip and tearing as it has been confirmed at Quakecon that DOOM, DOOM II, and DOOM 3 are available now on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. They’re not bundled together if we go by the PS Store but instead available as separate downloads just in case you don’t fancy getting one of the three titles on offer. In addition, Doom and Doom II are also now available on iOS and Android devices if you fancy some demon hunting on the go.
On PS4 the prices are as follows:
You can play these then move onto the last DOOM game, which is awesome, and then wait in anticipation for DOOM: Eternal. You’ll be waiting a little while as it isn’t out until November 22nd. Plenty of time to get your skills honed in the other games. That’ll serve nicely when playing the DOOM Eternal Battlemode, which was revealed at E3. Battlemode is a 2v1 affair where the Doom Slayer will face off against two player-controlled Demons and how it works was detailed today.
First off demon players will be able to summon AI demons and create traps to overpower the Slayer. Meanwhile the Slayer will have access to all guns, mods, and equipment to really take the fight. The demons people will be able to play as are Revenant, Pain Elemental, Mancubus, Marauder, and Archvile. At launch, there will be six maps available for Battlemode with more demons and maps being added for free post launch. The winner of Battlemode will be determined by which side gets the most wins out of five, and it’ll require some smart tactical play to get those wins. The DOOM Slayer may be overpowered but if demon players work together they’ll be able to level the playing field a bit.
