Fallout 76 to get raids next month, new map for Nuclear Winter

Bethesda have confirmed that Raids will be coming to the world of Fallout 76 next month on August 20th. Probably, that is, the date flashed up on screen during a panel at QuakeCon 2019 but those on the panel seemed rather unsure as to when the content will launch. You can check out the announcement in the video below, it starts at around 13m10s.

The first raid will find you and three pals opening up Vault 94 and exploring the interior which will, according to project lead Jeff Gardiner, be “very puzzle based”. The raid will have three difficulty levels with the high level adding a timer to the event but increasing the loot, some of which will drop during the event so you won’t have to complete the raid to gain new gear. Apparently it is possible to solo the Raid, but it will be extremely challenging.

There is also new set of power armour to collect which has ferns growing out of it for no reason.

It has also been revealed that a new map will launch this September for Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter, the game’s Battle Royale mode. Based on the Morgantown location it includes the Vault-Tec University, an airport (perfect for Continental Armies to take over during revolutionary wars), and a huge radioactive lake. There will also be new enemies including the Grafton Monster, and a new set of Perk cards which you will be able to choose from rather than being randomly assigned them at the start of the game.

Morgantown is expected to launch sometime in September, perhaps in time for the private servers which have also been announced for “the near future”. “They’re coming sooner than you think. That’s all I’ll say,” added project lead Jeff Gardiner.

Fallout 76 seems to have a fairly healthy install base but it never seems to be played by anyone on my friends list, are you still playing? Let us know in the comments.
