Bethesda have uploaded the Doom Eternal presentation from QuakeCon 2019 so we can all watch the nasty hell monsters explode in gory gobbits of flesh. The show is presented by id Software Executive Producer Marty Stratton and Creative Director Hugo Martin and is a “Knee-Deep” panel which includes a demo of the game and also answers fan questions about the upcoming sequel.
The game will take place across dimensions, from heaven to hell to the Sentinel home world and beyond. You’re going to have access to a rad suit and have to combat radiation as you make your way through various irradiated areas. There is of course also a hammering heavy metal soundtrack to further batter your senses into submission
The new Doom multiplayer mode is called Battle Mode which offers players a choice of roles. In this 2v1 mode, each demon has unique attacks, and movements, with two enemy demons going up against one fully-loaded Slayer.
At last year’s QuakeCon Executive Producer Marty Stratton explained than SnapMap was going to be ditched. “We’ve kind of moved away from SnapMap at this point,” he said. “We loved it, it was great, but it didn’t quite scratch the additional content itch for people in the way that we had hoped it would, in a broad sense. I know there’s some unbelievable SnapMap content out there, but we’ve chosen to reassign those resources and the time spent on that into things like the Invasions.”
He continued, “We’re going to do a lot with the Invasions, along with the PvP component which we’ll talk about more down the road, and we’re also developing that internally. We’re doubling down on things to make sure they’re done exactly how we want them to be done, and to make sure that they’re connected with the campaign.”
Doom Eternal is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch (on day one), built on the new idTech 7.
