Microsoft has confirmed the August line up for its Games with Gold service, and subscribers may just be getting one of the better months in the service’s history. Leading the charge is Gears of War 4 and considering we’re quite close to the release of Gears 5 this will likely help bring people in to get them interested in the next game. If that isn’t your thing then gears of a different note make up the next game as Forza Motorsport 6 is being made available.
From the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility list Gold subscribers will also be able to download Torchlight and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The full dates of availability are below.
- Gears of War 4: August 1st – August 31st
- Forza Motorsport 6: August 16th to September 15th
- Torchlight: August 1st to August 15th
- Castlevania Lords of Shadow: August 16th – August 31st
When Gears of 4 was reviewed Matt wrote, “The Coalition had a tall task in bringing Gears of War to a new generation for their first original game under the banner, and they mostly pulled it off with class. The competitive multiplayer isn’t much of an evolution from previous efforts, and the campaign drags for a bit, but the high points make it worth the ride and the new Horde mode is simply stellar. If you’ve enjoyed this franchise previously or have a few friends looking for co-op, give Gears of War 4 a close look – it’s definitely worth the time.”
Meanwhile for Forza Motorsport 6 Dom wrote, “Forza Motorsport 6 is beautiful, meticulous, dramatic and generous. It is arguably a faultless piece of driving software, and on top of that, Turn 10 have definitively proven that the Xbox One is an exceptionally capable machine when in the right hands. Serious racing fans owe it to themselves to experience Forza 6, while franchise stalwarts may find that this is the next generation Forza they were waiting for.”
