The EVE universe is expanding once more with the launch of EVE Echoes, a new sci-fi sandbox MMO for mobile devices set in a parallel universe of New Eden. The EVE Echoes Closed Alpha will go live on Monday 26th August and run for four weeks ending Friday 20th September.
The game is described as a “next-gen mobile MMO” based on classic EVE online principles where you will be able to forge alliances with other pilots from across the galaxy in one massive persistent universe. The title has been created by CCP games in partnership with mobile gaming giant NetEase.
EVE Echoes includes interstellar combat, resource collection, industrial manufacturing, trade, exploration, and other activities across a system that includes thousands of planets and unpredictable asteroid belts. You will be able to “live you own space opera” and there are over one hundred ships included at launch.
“EVE Echoes represents the next revolutionary step in mobile MMO gaming, bringing the mind-boggling scale and sophistication of our legendary PC-based virtual world to the palm of your hand,” said Hilmar V. Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with NetEase, one of the world’s leaders in mobile gaming, on bringing an authentic EVE experience designed from the ground up for mobile to new audiences across the globe.”
It all sounds rather fun doesn’t it? Unfortunately there’s a rather annoying limitation that will stop Brits from signing up. The Alpha will only be available to those in Australia, New Zealand, or Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, as well as Greenland and the Faroe Islands).
If you happen to be living there and have and iPhone 6S or above, or are an Android user with a Samsung Note8, Note9, S8, S9, Huawei P30 or Google Pixel 2 then you can sign up for the Alpha by following this link.
