Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey trailer focuses on how every journey is different

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey has been in development for a while by Panache Digital Games, the studio formed by Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Desilets, and the main focus of the game is to guide the evolution of our species’ ancestors. This involves starting near the beginning of our collective journey from prey to being the most dominant species, and how we get there depends on how you play the game. Patrice explains more in the video below.

The video focuses on the evolution aspect and the various ways this can happen. There are no real set missions with players encouraged to explore the world and learn the best ways in which to survive. One of the examples shown is how the ancestors became omnivores which is through hunting a wild boar, but other players will discover this skill a different way. How players move through the world will impact which new neural pathways will open, and what skills offspring will pick up. Players can skip ahead fifteen years to see the impact of the skills passing through the group.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey releases on August 27th for PC, with the Xbox One and PS4 releases to arrive in December.
