Daybreak Games has laid off employees as company realigns

Daybreak Games has once again laid off staff in an attempt to realign the company, it was confirmed . News first started appearing on Twitter as now former employees tweeted about being let go. Daybreak Games soon followed up with its own statement to Gamasutra stating these layoffs were a result of a realignment of the company as it restructured teams.

The full statement is below:

We are taking steps to improve our business and to support our long-term vision for the existing franchises and development of new games. This will include a realignment of the company into separate franchise teams, which will allow us to highlight their expertise, better showcase the games they work on, and ultimately provide tailored experiences for our players. Unfortunately, some employees were impacted by this effort, and we’re doing what we can to support them during this challenging time.”

As mentioned this is not the first time Daybreak Games has let go of staff within the last 12 months. Back in December 2018 staff were let go from the developer, and before that in April 2018 had laid off staff as it sought, you guessed it, to realign its teams. Daybreak Games has worked on H1Z1, PlanetSide Arena, and DC Universe Online.
