Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age update adds original soundtrack, allows license reset

A new update has been released for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age which has brought along some much wanted changes and additions. The first major change is that character licenses can now be reset. That means when you choose a character’s two licenses, which determine their roles, you are no longer bound by your choice for the remainder of the game if you change your mind. If you do want to change a character’s license you have to head back to Rabanastre and speak to Clan Centurio’s leader Montblanc who will allow the change to occur. There are no limits to how often these changes can be made. The amount of gambits players can create and equip has also been increased with three of them now available to switch between quickly to better face off against enemies in different situations.

When Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age was released it came with an updated soundtrack that had been re-orchestrated. However, there was no option to switch and listen to the original. The latest update adds the game’s original soundtrack so you can switch between the new version and the classic version while playing through the game. There are some changes though with a few tweaks to the instruments used though it is as close to the original as possible.

In our review for Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Dom wrote:

Though I remember having a huge amount of fun with XII when it came out, it’s always been Final Fantasy X that was ‘my’ Final Fantasy game growing up. However, having replayed them both again in remastered form, it’s clearly XII which comes away the winner. A wonderful remaster with welcome enhancements, it’s remarkable just how fresh, fun and involving Final Fantasy XII feels over a decade later, with elements that still feel modern in a franchise well known for hanging onto the past.
