Deep Rock Galactic digs toward a full 1.0 release in May

The minings space dwarves of Deep Rock Galactic have been burrowing through Early Access for over two years now, but there’s finally some light at the end of the game development tunnel. Coffee Stain Publishing and Ghost Ship Games have announced that the game’s full release on Steam, Xbox One and Microsoft Store is coming on 13th May.

The game takes your dwarves to the mineral-rich planet of Hoxxes IV, firing mining platforms deep under the planets surface for you to mine on some rich veins of valuable minerals. However, as with so many alien planets (probably), Hoxxes IV is full of hostile aliens  that will attack you as you progress. You’ll choose from four classes, each with specific skills and gear to help clear the mission, mining through the procedurally generated cave networks, and weapons to fight off the bugs.

The last two years have seen a regular stream of updates for the game, with new features, environments, enemies, weapons, missions, perks, vanity items, and on and on. The game has already passed one million sales through Early Access, but Ghost Ship will doubtless be eager to reach even more players.

“When we started developing Deep Rock Galactic four years ago, none of us at Ghost Ship Games had imagined the game as it is today. While many of the core features have evolved and works as we hoped, there are also entire sections of the game that we didn’t dream of, and that is largely due to our community,” said Søren Lundgaard, CEO, Ghost Ship Games. “Our focus has always been co-op first so to create something that truly requires teamwork meant we needed to team up with the community. We want to thank our players for their support and feedback after four years we’re incredibly excited to officially launch.”

For the full launch, they’re dropping two new cosmetic DLC packs that feature new sets of armour and weapon skins, while the official Deep Rock Galactic soundtrack is expanded with 50 new minutes of space-dwarf synth. Because of course!
