Stronghold: Warlords release date confirmed for September, co-op mode announced

Firefly Studios has announced that Stronghold: Warlords will be released on September 29th on PC via Steam. In addition to the release date, the development team has also confirmed details about the multiplayer. One of the modes will be a co-op mode where two players can partner up and face off against an AI enemy.

Nick Tannahill, Marketing Director at Firefly Studios, explained further:

“Multiplayer will include the ability to play in teams with friends and against the AI, but also the option to control a single castle cooperatively. For instance, in co-op one player could handle the economy from the start while the other builds up an army. Then later during a siege that player could control defensive units like Fire Lancers and Archers, while the other triggers castle traps and puts out fires.”

The PvP multiplayer mode has a Warlord feature in which there are small castles around the map that players can conquer or ally with through diplomacy. Once that has been done these AI-controlled characters will join the players’ army and can be used to bolster the numbers against opposing players. These allies can be upgraded as well to either provide a stronger army or create a strengthened economy to boost production for a player. Stronghold Warlords will release with Steam Workshop support allowing the community to create and share custom maps and scenarios.
