Horizon Forbidden West screenshots released by Guerrilla Games

One of the biggest reveals during the PS5 reveal event was the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel Horizon Forbidden West, which will see Aloy and the mechanical creatures arrive on the console in a big way. Now, Guerrilla Games has released two new screenshots that show very different areas of Horizon Forbidden West. The first shows a downed plane in a waterful surrounded by greenery and what appears to be machine pterodactyl. The second is in the desert and seems to show some kind of encampment.

Both screenshots have been captured directly from PS5. Horizon Forbidden West will not be a PS5 launch title, however, with the game more likely to hit at some point in 2021 according to Guerrilla.

It seems that a new threat is emerging to threaten the rebuilt world that Aloy managed to save in the first game, with the sequel taking a much more epic tone as she ventures west from the setting of the original game. We see huge cities submerged in water, trekking across deserts, heading underwater, and mammoth new robotic wildlife that has been ensnared by nefarious corruptions. We can’t forget the robot mammoths. The world itself will be based around the geographical area of North America from Utah to the Pacific coast, with new tribes for Aloy to encounter and either work with or get into conflict with. One of the naughtier tribes has figured out a way to corrupt and use the robots to their nefarious ends.

Stefan said for our Horizon Zero Dawn review:

“There’s more to Guerrilla Games’ latest than just its staggeringly pretty graphics. The story surprises as it takes several twists and turns and explores the past, but the game’s beating heart is with its excellently tense and engaging robotic monster hunting.”

This was then further enhanced by the Frozen Wilds expansion, for which Tuffcub said “enhances an already excellent game.”
