NIS America has revealed that the next Ys game to be released will be Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, and it will be released in 2021 for PC, PS4, and Switch. The PS4 release will come first with the other two platform releases to follow. Alongside the announcement of the game two special editions were unveiled, and they are the Limited Edition and the Pact Edition. Before we get into what the game is about and what is contained in those special editions you can watch the announcement trailer.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox’s plot outline is as follows:

Now, Adol must ally with his fellow Monstrums to fend off the fearsome threats emerging from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox, as well as unravel the mysteries of the Monstrum curse, and the truth behind the unrest within Balduq.

Miguel recently reviewed the PS4 release of Ys: Memorise of Celceta and wrote:

Ys: Memories of Celceta does it’s best to put the spotlight on the series narrative, but the adventures of amnesiac Adol barely hold a candle to the fast and frenetic combat of the game. What seems like a mindless hack-and-slash on the surface quickly becomes a palm-drenching test of patience through its punishing and satisfying boss battles. Even if you come to Ys: Memories of Celceta looking for a trip through the lore of the franchise, you’ll likely end up staying for that classic, addictive Ys combat.
