Dear Villagers and Phigames have confirmed that the 3D platformer Recompile will be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X. The game had previously been confirmed for a PC release via Steam. Recompile has been described as a metroidvania where different paths will open up depending on a players actions. The narrative will also changed based on where the player chooses to go, and how they interact with the world of Recompile. To mark the announcement of the PS5 and Xbox Series X reveal a brand new trailer has been released and you can give that a watch below.
Recompile’s description reads:
“Take control of a semi-sapient program and escape deletion in this atmospheric, Metroidvania-inspired hacking adventure. Set in the sprawling 3D world of the Mainframe, Recompile features intense combat, tight platforming, environmental hacking and a unique branching narrative.”
In Recompile players will be able to hack the environment and the enemies, but they will not be easy to take down. The world will be shifting constantly and players will need to use different abilities to navigate it, including flight with a jetpack and time dilation. Due to the different choices players can make there will be multiple endings available in Recompile. Players themselves play as a piece of semi-sentient code and will face off against the Mainframe that will delete anything that is out of place.
