With Dynasty Warriors 9 having launched more than two years ago, we’ve yet to hear what publisher Koei Tecmo have planned for the popular hack and slash series next.
We’re used to seeing a steady flow of numbered Warriors titles from Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force, followed up by spin offs, expansions, and ports. While 2020 has seen the launch of One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 – which scored a swashbuckling 8 out of 10 in Miguel’s review – there remains no news of what’s to come next for the mainline Dynasty Warriors.

Koei have released a new survey for fans to fill out asking them questions about the series, including a potential upcoming Dynasty Warriors. For the most part, this is likely information that will be passed on and pored over by marketing departments looking to get a read on fans’ sentiment towards the franchise and their purchasing habits.
Questions include which next-gen systems fans intend to buy and what kinds of bonus they enjoy with physical and digital editions of Dynasty Warriors games. Another section flat out asks if you will be purchasing the next Dynasty Warriors , and if your answer is no this is followed up by another questions asking why you might have gotten tired of the series.
While there is no direct mention of a Dynasty Warriors 10, it’s clear that Koei Tecmo are gearing up for another instalment, and one that will likely be appearing on next-gen systems. The series is celebrating its 20th anniversary with producer, Akihiro Suzuki, teasing something big. Last year, Koei Tecmo also trademarked the following:
- “Isekai Musou” (Other World Warriors)
- “Gakuen Musou” (Academy Warriors)
- “Tensei Musou” (Reincarnation Warriors) – Note: This is likely not Shin Megami Tensei-related, as Atlus would own the trademark, not
- Koei Tecmo.
- “Musou Play“
- “Musou Mode“
Exactly what the publisher have planned remains unclear though hopefully we’ll hear more in the coming months, especially if the next Dynasty Warriors is planned as a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and potentially the Xbox Series X.
