For Honor update live with more combat changes

Ubisoft are launching a new For Honor patch today as they continue to refine the game’s core combat. This follows a recent gameplay overhaul which came in tandem with a new playable hero: The Warmonger.

Update 2.22 will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC shortly so expect some server downtime as they iron out some kinks.

Responding to player feedback, the team at Ubisoft Montreal are making some additional tweaks to the overall combat gameplay as well as individual heroes.

In short, they will be modifying the damage and stamina cost of certain attacks. These changes align with their vision to make For Honor a more dynamic fighting game, less focused on defensive, reactionary tactics. You can read more about the For Honor core combat update here.

Having recently returned to For Honor following these changes, it definitely feels more versatile and has helped shift the game’s meta in making a wider selection of heroes more viable.

Ubisoft have yet to post the full patch notes for 2.22 but here’s a provisional outline of what to expect when the update lands today:

Warmonger/Nuxia Feats:

There will be changes to Corruption that impact the Feats of both heroes. More details will follow in our full patch notes closer to August 27th!

Heavy Attack Damage:

This will be further lowered where needed to address the risk-reward balance between light and heavy attacks, as well as time-to-kill concerns. The new values will generally be closer to those used in the second phase of the Testing Grounds.

Zone Attack Damage:

Though the CCU was intended to lower damage overall, it will be raised on several Zone attacks that stood out as too low.

Deflect Damage:

Again, lower damage was one of the goals of the CCU, but damage on deflects will be raised a bit overall to make attempting them a more rewarding option.

Light Attack Stamina Cost:

  • 9 for regular Light Attacks (from 12)
  • 6 for combo Lights

The 12 Stamina cost on lights has impacted the ability of some heroes to use their offense effectively. This change should help those heroes out, while still avoiding situations where players can be over-reliant on lights at some levels of play.

It may not have garnered the same level of popularity as Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege but For Honor is definitely one of the more unique online multiplayer games of this gen. You can buy the base game at a heavily reduced price with starter editions also available so it’s well worth trying if you’re looking for a game that feels completely different from everything else.
