Planet Coaster: Console Edition is an Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 launch title

As we’d kind of expected for some time now, Planet Coaster: Console Edition will launch alongside the next-gen consoles. Frontier have announced game will be out for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 10th November, and then on 12th or 19th November for PlayStation 5, depending on your region.

The game will be priced at £39.99/$49.99/€44.99 for the standard version, and £49.99/$59.99/€54.99 for the Deluxe Edition, which includes the Magnificent Rides Collection and Classic Rides Collection to add an extra 18 rides and coasters to the game.

As previously announced, the game will have a free upgrade path from current to next-gen, using Smart Delivery for cross-gen Xbox ownership and with upgrades on PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.

This has an impact on your save data, though. On Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, your progress will carry across thanks to Smart Delivery, but on PS4 and PS5 your save data will not be transferrable. Instead, “PlayStation players will be able to bring their creations with them by uploading them to the Frontier Workshop and then downloading them again in their next-gen park,” but you won’t be able to carry over any progress you’ve made in the campaign.

We’ve been hands on with the game this past week, saying in our latest preview:

“While I still find the controls a bit fiddly for my liking, Planet Coaster: Console Edition is still a delight. Without the time pressures of a hands on preview session, any control niggles will surely fade into the background, with a big, bright and generally easy to navigate UI letting you dive in and manage your park from top to bottom. I doubt there’ll be many better ways to spend a wintry Sunday to see out this year and savour gaming on our new hyper-powered consoles.”

We’ll have a follow up video soon as well.
