It looks like SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are gearing up to reveal news about a new Judgment game. The development studio, who is also responsible for the Yakuza series, has put up a new countdown website with the words Judgment Day is coming. The countdown is set to expire on May 7th at 3PM BST. Not only is there are countdown but there is also a link to SEGA’s YouTube channel that leads to the the below scheduled video.
It was just this past Friday, April 23rd, that SEGA released the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia versions of Judgment. So, both publisher and developer may be looking to strike while the iron is hot to announce the next entry to the Yakuza spin off series. In Judgment players are on the other side of the law, taking on the role of private detective Takayuki Yagami, who has his run ins with both law enforcement and the Yakuza. In the game, the main story is about hunting down a killer but there are also plenty of side activities and missions to get involved with. The gameplay will be familiar to those who have played through the Yakuza games.
In our review for Judgment, I wrote:
Judgment is another great Japanese crime drama that will grab your attention as the stakes get bigger and bigger, but it’s not quite on par with the Yakuza series. Some of the private detective busywork could make way for more of RGG Studio’s trademark goofiness to cut through the seriousness of the main story, but anyone who has any interest in Far East crime dramas or the Yakuza series should pick Judgment up. Judgment has been judged and has been found worth playing.
