Konami has announced another partnership with a football team, and today that team is Serie A side Atalanta B.C. Atalanta has finished a very good season, finishing third in Italy’s top flight of football. This partnership confirms that Atalanta B.C will be an exclusive club in the eFootball PES franchise, meaning the team will not be part of FIFA 2022 or any other FIFA while this exclusivity deal is active. You can check out the announcement trailer below.
Naoki Morita, President at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V., said: “As we prepare to unveil the future of the eFootball PES series, I am delighted to announce this exclusive partnership with Atalanta B.C., a truly formidable club with an exciting future at the highest levels of European football. Working side by side with our Partner Clubs is an important element of our strategy to deliver industry-leading video games to football fans all over the world.”
Luca Percassi, Atalanta B.C. CEO said: “We are extremely delighted to announce the partnership with Konami. Konami is an international brand that needs no introduction. It represents another important moment of growth for Atalanta”.
Atalanta is not the first Serie A side to be courted by Konami. In December, Lazio became a partner with Konami. Last month, Konami announced a partnership with Napoli. Napoli will still feature in the next FIFA, but will become a fully exclusive eFootball PES club from the 2022/23 season onwards. AS Roma also joined Konami’s football brand from last year too. Juventus was the club that started this mini Italian exodus from FIFA to eFootball PES when the Italian giants became exclusive in PES 2020.
