The June Games with Gold have been announced

It’s time once again to frantically search TSA for even a mention of the titles Microsoft as giving away for free. That’s right, it’s Games with Gold time! What obscure titles have they got for you this month?

Here’s the four June Games with Gold:

First up is The King’s Bird, the name of which I vaguely recognise and indeed we did review it back in 2018.

We scored it 7/10 back then, here’s what Steve had to say at the time.

When things are going well, The King’s Bird is a wonderful and fluid experience. Soaring across gaps, leaping up walls and making pixel perfect landings provides a sense of joy and empowerment that is rare indeed. Overall the controls are intuitive and responsive, with the game working with you to complete its levels, but every once in a while, certain mechanics felt a little off. Thankfully there’s a wide array of accessibility options, and while hardcore gamers may lament this approach as overly casual, the optional nature means that The King’s Bird can be enjoyed by all.

Next up, “save the world or plunge it into disaster in Shadows: Awakening”. Nope, not a clue, if there anyone can make a more generic and non-descriptive game name than Shadows: Awakening I will be impressed. We did review that one as well in 2019 but it only scored 6/10.

Here’s Gareth’s summary of the game:

Shadows: Awakening ultimately fails to be the action RPG that fans of the genre need. It has some interesting ideas and decent writing, but the story shifts to the backburner after a while and the side missions and combat aren’t enough to maintain interest through the grind it turns into. It’s not bad, it’s just not particularly inspiring either. If you need a new diablo-like and a lack of polish or a glut of grind doesn’t bother you, there are definitely worse options out there.

You’re next game is NeoGeo Battle Coliseum, an Xbox 360 game that has never featured on TSA but I did manage to find a trailer from 11 years ago.

Finally we have a a game that I do recognise, Injustice: Gods Among Us, a rather good fighting game but once again this is the Xbox 360 version.

Uhm, so, enjoy that lot then.

Don’t forget you can still pick up May’s games:
